This is the short section, and it is the important one. This site runs no analytics of any kind. There is no Google Analytics, no Google Tag Manager, no Microsoft Clarity, no Meta pixel, no advertising tag, no session recording and no third-party embed that could act as one. No cookie is set for tracking, profiling, advertising or measurement — which is why you have not been asked to consent to any.

Nothing you read here is logged against you. There is no account, no login and no personalisation. The pages are static: what you are reading was rendered before you asked for it, and it is identical for everyone.

One form on this site collects a personal detail: the alerts form under the true cost calculator. Here is exactly what happens.

• What is collected. Your email address, and a short text label recording which page and property count you submitted from — for example true-cost-calculator:5 — so the first email can contain the breakdown you asked for. Nothing else. No name, no phone number, no company, no job title.
• Where it goes. Straight to our email service provider, Brevo, which stores the contact and sends the emails on our behalf. It is not stored anywhere else. This site has no database of its own.
• Double opt-in. Subscribing sends you one confirmation email. If you do not click the link in it, you receive nothing further and the record is not activated.
• What we send. At most one email a month: what changed across the platforms in this index, and any price move. That is the entire purpose of the list.
• Lawful basis. Your consent, given by confirming the opt-in. You can withdraw it at any time.
• How to leave. Every email carries an unsubscribe link, and it works immediately. You can also ask us to delete your record entirely, and we will.
• How long it is kept. Until you unsubscribe or ask for deletion, or until the list is retired.

What never happens. Your address is never sold, rented, or passed to any platform named in this index as a lead — not now and not later. No vendor can buy access to this list. That is a standing commitment, and it is also recorded in the methodology.

The site is served by a commercial hosting provider, which — like every web host — briefly processes technical request data such as IP address and user agent in order to deliver the page and to protect the service from abuse. We do not use that data, do not link it to anything, and do not build profiles from it.

If you are in the UK or the EU you have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to correct it, to have it deleted, to restrict or object to its processing, and to receive a copy of it. In practice, for this site, that means one thing: your email address, if you gave it to us. Ask and we will show it to you or delete it. You also have the right to complain to your data protection authority — in the UK, the Information Commissioner’s Office.

This site links out to vendor pages, changelogs and documentation as evidence for the facts it records. Those sites have their own privacy practices and their own trackers, and we have no control over either. Following a citation here is you choosing to visit someone else’s website.

If this policy changes in a way that affects what we collect or what we do with it, the change is dated in updates like any other correction on this site.
